Background

Professor Amy Oakes received her B.A. in Political Science from Davidson College in 1998 and her Ph.D. in Political Science from The Ohio State University in 2006. Her research interests include international security, comparative foreign policy, and quantitative methods. Her work has appeared in Security Studies, Politics & Gender, International Journal and edited volumes. She is currently working on a book manuscript that examines whether governments provoke international crises in response to domestic unrest, entitled Diversionary War.
